This past Friday around 10:45 am the Fed Ex Stork arrived at our home with the long awaited package. Even though Doug was not able to be at home that morning and I promised I would not open the package until he was able to come home so we could open it together...I was still completely impatient for the Fed Ex to arrive. The Fed Ex guy was taken aback when I bolted out the front door as soon as he pulled in to our driveway and asked to take his picture. Initially I am sure he thought I was a freak..but when I explained to him what he had in his hands, he was very willing to comply and dare I say...enjoyed it. Come to find out he had been asked one other time for his picture (glad to hear there are other freaks like me out there) and that he grew up in McLean, Virginia where our adoption agency is (and the package was from).
Although it was really hard and I nearly caved several times, I am happy to report that I did not open the package until Doug arrived home. Since we missed receiving "the call" together, it was wonderful to enjoy this moment together. Inside the Fed Ex were pictures of our baby girl and her medical records (only some of which have been translated).
Height: 25.6 in
Weight: 14.3 lbs
Head Size: 16.3 in
She is in the 5th percentile on the American growth charts and in the 10-25th percentile on the Chinese growth charts. So she is petite.
We were also told she:
~Laughs aloud
~Has a ready smile
~Is fond of listening to music
~Is a deep sleeper
~Close to caregiver
~Quick in reaction
~Locates the direction of sound/voice
~Holds blocks in each hand at the same time
~Looks for the dropped toy.
~Reaches and grasps a toy beyond.
~Follows you with moving head from one side to the other.
~Distinguishes between acquaintance and strangers.
~Knows name, turns when called.
~Holds her head up while lying on her stomach
~Rolls from supine to prone position by herself.
The mug shot...isn't she cute???
It is amazing to us how very little information there is in her medical report. From what they did check everything looks normal. Her measurements (at 8 months) were:Height: 25.6 in
Weight: 14.3 lbs
Head Size: 16.3 in
She is in the 5th percentile on the American growth charts and in the 10-25th percentile on the Chinese growth charts. So she is petite.

I've been waiting to see more pics! She is SO pretty! What does Cam think about all of this?
She is adorable!!!!
YAY! Another cutie!! Can't wait to meet you!!
I think that these Fed Ex guys must be kind of getting used to Adoptive families receiving that package that will change their lives forever. If you go to our blog, in the past posts, such as the one from, Friday, July 11, 2008, entitled Kathy Accepts The Delivery!, as well as a few entries before that one, you will find that you are not alone in regards to Fed Ex! Here is just a taste of it, "Rick and I are waiting for the Fed Ex truck that is slated to be here by noon. We have tracked the package and it has left Freeland and is on the truck as I write these words!!! Of course we left the camera at the berries so Rick is running up to the grocery store to get a disposable camera. We also have cameras on our phones so we will use them too. This poor Fed Ex guy has no idea what is in store for him when he reaches our house. He has no idea the importance of the document he is delivering. The signing of a simple document that is about to change our lives and hers for ever! It is not the adoption papers themselves but it is the final necessary document that you have to have in order for them to begin setting up all of the adoption meetings in China, the court date itself and her doctor appointments for her physical that she will have done with us there with her every step of the way! The signing of this paper and it's return to China sets all of that into motion!" You can see our daughter;s entire blog www.jazzyrose.blogspot.com
I have marked your blog and we will be following! We just went through all that you are about to experience. If we can help in regards to answering questions and blogging or using Skype in China or just anything at all you can contact us on the blog through our email button! Our Jazmyne's Gotcha Day was just this past September 16, 2008. She is from the Qian Jiang SWI
